Despite the negative press reports and scare stories about crime and safety issues that have been prominent in the European media I found South Africa more than ready to host next year’s big event.
The superb stadiums are almost finished and arrangements are being made to improve transport where possible, but it is a big country that is still developing, poverty is the biggest issue facing the nation, so to expect an infrastructure such as the one we saw in Germany would be foolish.
On a personal level, I think it will be the warmth of the South African people that will make this World Cup so special.
The country is special for me; I’ve followed its fortunes since the days of apartheid to the freeing of Nelson Mandela. The World Cup will provide the platform for it to showcase its unique qualities to the world.
Dear Paul Elliott
ReplyDeleteI qualified as A Chartered Surveyor in 1984. After discovering that the BNP leadership in South East London were being allowed to use Old Addeyans Football Clubhouse for their 'Planning for Real' meetings, I got into a fight that led to me being the defendant against a pro NF/BNP prosecution Regina v Hobson 1991 that CID Greenwich produced in support of Addey & Stanhope' s Chairman of Governors Cliff Hardcastle, and the Old Addeyans FC Treasurer Jim Pollard.
After two not guilty verdicts in my favour I gave the trial manuscript to George Carey's St Paul's in Deptford SE8 so that the Police and Addey & Stanhope's C of E establishment could comment. The trial manuscript was returned to me in the year 2000 with no comment, after I had suffered years of persecution, false charges of paranoia, associated appearances in Criminal Law Courts, Civil Law Courts and unemployment.
It was not until 2004 that the FA's Lucy Faulkner obtained a confession from Old Addeyans about the BNP using OAFC's clubhouse, and 5 years later the case is once again at a pre Judicial Review consideration juncture.
On 21st December 2009, John Austin MP wrote me a letter of support that mentioned Brother James Boner of Our Lady of the Angels in Bexley. John Austin's letter came out strongly in support of my Catholic FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM IN EUROPE (FARE) 1991-2009 legal case by confirming he had written to the Met Police Bexley Borough Commander Tony Dawson about a missing FARE file sent by former Met Police Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur to Inspector Tony Wells at Bexley Police Station.
John Austin's letter also addressed Commander Dawson's failure to respond to my associated correspondence.
At the next General Election former Met Police Inspector Michael Barnbrook, the malevolent neo-Nazi BNP Police Spokesman, will be standing as a candidate for MP in Our Lady of the Rosary's Parish, Blackfen, which is in the late Sir Edward Heath's Old Bexley & Sidcup constituency. Nick Griffin MEP, the BNP's leader will be standing as a candidate for MP in the Barking & Dagenham constituency here in London at the next General Election.
Our Lady of the Rosary pray for us in BNP leader Nick Griffin MEP's EU/GLA/LDA/ODA NEO-NAZI DEVELOPMENT TIMES Amen
Yours sincerely
